Two photos by Ken Williams of the stone-row without the trees which now surround it once again..

Shantemon Hill is reputed to have been the inauguration site of the Ó Raghallaigh (O’Reilly) family
from 12th to the 17th century, marked by a square solution pit in a rock-outcrop, known as Cois an tSiorragh
(The Foal’s Foot), fancifully caused by the imprint of a small hoof.

As late as the 1940s, on Bilberry Sunday (Lughnasa), 'young people'
attended a gathering or pattern (patrún) here and/or at the alignment, and today some large quartzite pebbles mark the spot.
